My Top 10 Lessons Learnt in 2022
As we come to the end of 2022, I wanted to take a moment and reflect on the lessons I have learned over the past year. It has been a tumultuous year, with lots of changes both in my personal life and in the world at large. But through it all, I have learned some valuable lessons that I want to share with you. Here are my top 10 learnings of 2022:
1. Change is inevitable – and sometimes it’s for the better.
This year has seen lots of change in my life. I said goodbye to owning a successful franchise, a business that I grew from the ground up and along with it came lots of change into my life. But, I would not have it any other way as it has freed my up, cleared the clutter in my mind, grounded and calmed me in a way that I could have never imagined.
2. It’s important to slow down to speed up – life is busy, but it’s so important to slow down and make time for the things that calm me down. I enjoy reading a book, watching a show, going for a walk and doing a meditation. These are the tasks that ground me and I plan to bring even more of this into my life in 2023.
3. Connection is important – for me, it’s important to be around individuals that make me laugh, that challenge me and that push me forward to becoming the best version of myself. In 2022 I made some amazing new connections and met some incredible individuals and I’m super grateful to them.
4. Busy isn’t a badge of honour – I am working my life to do the opposite of this. To be a good busy where I enjoy what I am doing, and to remove or delegate what I don’t, and this will also be a large focus of mine in 2023.
5. Kindness matters – and can make a difference in someone’s life. After post-natal I realised that we never know what is going on in someone else’s life so try not to judge. Kindness matters and if someone makes a mistake or doesn’t show up perfectly, see it with different eyes as we just never know what’s behind the scenes.
6. Happiness comes from within – and is not dependent on external circumstances. It’s not the outside world that makes us happy, it’s what we create on a deeper level within ourselves and the beliefs that we hold that create that happiness.
7. Gratitude is important – and can help us appreciate the good in our lives. When I look around at my life it’s pretty amazing. A loving hubby, 4 beautiful kids and I’m loving what I am doing now and the impact it has on others’ lives. I’m grateful.
8. Letting go is sometimes necessary – and can lead to new beginnings. A couple of years ago I was in a tough situation and couldn’t see past it. Letting go changed my outlook and allowed me to move forward, faster.
9. The present moment is all we have – and should be savoured and enjoyed. There is no point waiting for retirement to enjoy your life. Enjoy now, be part of moments, create that vision and follow it as best you can.
10. I have large goals and I believe I can reach them – each day is a new opportunity to learn and grow. I know my goals are large, enormous in fact, but I will keep striving towards them step by step, 1% by 1% and gathering and building connections along the way to help achieve my dreams.
I hope these lessons have been as valuable for you as they have been for me.
