Most of us don't have a performance problem under pressure. We have a speed problem. The moment arrives, and we react before we've thought. The reaction feels like us. It isn't. It's the reflex.
Between what happens and how you respond, there's a gap. Under pressure, the gap closes. You snap, you agree to the thing you didn't want, you send the message you regret. Pause, Choose, Reset is how you widen the gap again.
Pause is not a stop. It's a breath long enough to notice what you're feeling before you act on it. Name it. Tight chest, short fuse, the urge to fix. Noticing is not weakness. It's the start of control.
Now you have options you couldn't see a second ago. You choose the response, not the reflex. This is where your values get a say instead of your adrenaline.
Reset is the part people miss. You don't relive the moment for the next three hours. You take the next right action and you move. Return time, not rumination.
It's the difference between the parent who yells and the parent who kneels down. The leader who defends and the leader who asks a question. Same pressure. Different gap.
Where in your week does the gap close fastest, and what would one extra second of pause change?
Live a successful, purposeful and fully charged life everyday!
